Quality The pursuit of quality is the lifeblood of NYBGH at its core and through its members. NYBGH members want their employees to receive the best care possible and have good information to choose that care.
Quality Information for Employers and Consumers
NYBGH is a founding partner, with IPRO, in the New York State Health Accountability Foundation, a dynamic enterprise that promotes employer and consumer healthcare quality information and encourages "best practices". Among other missions, the foundation publishes comparative data on hospitals, doctors, health plans and nursing homes in the tri-state area.

Patient Safety
NYBGH has joined with the Leapfrog Group, a national purchaser-driven patient safety initiative, to encourage hospitals to adopt standards that improve patient outcomes. As part of this initiative, employers seek to raise awareness of patient safety among their employees and encourage them to use providers who meet the Leapfrog standards. Under the umbrella of the New York Partnership for Improving Patient Safety (NYPIPS), NYBGH and Xerox are leading the initiative in the New York Metropolitan area.

Standardization and Evaluation
NYBGH members are working with the National Business Coalition on Health to standardize the way health plan purchase information is requested, delivered and evaluated across the country. Using the NBCH eValue8 tool, NYBGH is assessing the quality of health plans based on a common set of criteria that measure key areas from provider performance and disease management to member satisfaction. NYBGH coordinates the employer voice, by bringing many employers together to send a common message and share resources. The process not only provides performance measurement for each plan, but also dramatically reduces the staff time and money employers now spend researching and comparing disparate vendor information.
Currently, NYBGH is working with American Express, Marriott, Pitney-Bowes and TIAA-CREF to eValue8 their health plans both in New York and other states where they have employees.
